Vol. 537 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Security.

Richard Bruton

Question:

525 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the insurers of a secondary voluntary school (details supplied) in Dublin 9 have required an investment of £50,000 by the school in security measures (details supplied); if his Department will fund the additional works needed to secure the school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16556/01]

My Department recently received correspondence from the school to which the Deputy refers in relation to their insurer's demands for increased security measures. My Department has appointed a consultant to assess the security requirements in the school, based on the insurer's demands, and to submit a report, including costings, for the work required to be carried out.
