Richard Bruton

Question:

526 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will give a commitment that the building of science laboratories at a school (details supplied) in Dublin 9 for which approval was first sought in 1994, will be sanctioned for construction to be carried out in summer 2001; and the reason for the delay in this matter. [16557/01]

Officials from my Department recently met with the school management authority and its design team with a view to progressing this project. The design team has been requested to submit full tender documents for the works. The school management authority has been assured that my Department will make every effort to expedite this project once the tender documentation is received.

Question:

527 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department will provide a new national school at a location (details supplied) in County Cork; and the situation regarding this proposal. [16581/01]

My Department has received an application from the management authorities of the school referred to by the Deputy for grant aid towards the provision of a new school.

In view of the large number of school building projects currently being dealt with by my Department, it is not possible at this point to say what the extent of the accommodation will be, or to give any indication as to the timescale for the provision of the new facilities. However, the matter will be kept under review and the school auth orities will be contacted as soon as it becomes possible to proceed to the next stage.

528 Mr. D'Arcy asked the Minister for Education and Science when the extension will be constructed at the Sacred Heart National School, Newbawn, County Wexford. [16582/01]

My Department has received an application from the management authorities of Sacred Heart National School, Newbawn, County Wexford for grant aid towards an extension. However, it is not possible at this stage to give any indication as to the timeframe for the provision of the accommodation.
