550 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason for the delay in proceeding with urgent remedial works including the removal of asbestos roofing material at Scariff community college, County Clare; when work will commence on the school hall; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Remedial works at Scariff Community College, including the removal of asbestos roofing material, have been referred to the health and safety unit of the Office of Public Works, which is dealing with asbestos in schools for my Department.

I understand that the refurbishment of the PE hall will commence during the summer months.
