Vol. 537 No. 5

Written Answers. - Institutes of Technology.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

558 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science the proposals he has to develop and upgrade Waterford Institute of Technology; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16757/01]

The construction of the award winning library building at Waterford Institute of Technology has recently been completed. This is the first part of the implementation of the institute's campus development plan.

The next phase of the institute's development plan is a catering and tourism building and an information technology building, both of which are major projects currently in architectural planning. The combined area of these developments is over 10,500mf7>2.

My Department will continue to work with Waterford Institute of Technology in implementing the development plan on a phased basis. Further phases include the development of an engineering building, a school of business and an administration building.
