Vol. 537 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Placement.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

600 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the degree to which a review is ongoing or is concluded regarding the assessment of needs in respect of primary and second level places throughout north Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17302/01]

The north Kildare area has been the subject of regular review by my Department in recent years, in view of the general growth in population there.

At present, there are several building projects in architectural planning for schools in the area at both primary and post-primary level. It is envisaged that when these projects are completed there will be sufficient school accommodation to meet future needs.

However, my Department will continue to monitor school accommodation requirements in north Kildare to ensure that any emerging needs are addressed.
