Vol. 538 No. 1

Written Answers. - General Practitioner Services.

Bernard Allen

Question:

168 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has had discussions with his counterpart in the Northern Ireland Executive on the issue of cross-border general practitioner co-operatives. [17362/01]

Health boards under the auspices of the CAWT, Co-operation and Working Together, a joint body which links the North-Eastern and North-Western Health Boards in the South and Southern and Western Health and Social Services Boards in the North, have had discussions with their Northern Ireland counterparts concerning the development of primary care services, including the potential for general practitioner out of hours co-operatives. Minister de Brún and I take a keen interest in the developments under the CAWT and have had presentations from the CAWT at meetings of the North-South Minis terial Council. I will be keeping these developments under review.
