Vol. 538 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John Bruton

Question:

219 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress that has been made on the provision of a new classroom and general purposes room at Yellow Forest national school, County Meath, since his reply to a parliamentary question in February 2001; if it is the case, that his Department's architect is examining this file as was the case two years ago; the matters being examined by his Department's architect; when the works are likely to be issued for tender; and when the works required at the school are likely to commence and to be concluded. [17386/01]

I take it the Deputy is referring to Yellow Furze national school, Navan, County Meath. Planning permission has been granted and a fire safety certificate was recently received for the proposed works at this school. This project has also been advertised in order to pre-qualify contractors. My Department's architectural unit is currently finalising the documentation for the tender competition. The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
