Vol. 538 No. 1

Written Answers. - Public Safety.

Willie Penrose

Question:

65 Mr. Penrose asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the progress which has been made in considering the need for a new authority with overall responsibility for public safety as recommended by the interdepartmental committee; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17233/01]

I have received the report of the interdepartmental-agency review group on public safety which I published last December. I am still considering the implications of the group's report, including the recommendation to establish an office of public safety regulation, which requires consultation with Government colleagues.
