105 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when she expects to publish legislation to implement the recommendations of the Competition and Mergers Review Group dealing with newspaper and media mergers and cross-ownership of the media; if she has any plans to expedite the enactment of the legislation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I expect to circulate very shortly a general scheme of a Bill to give effect to certain recommendations of the Competition and Mergers Review Group including those arising from the Report of the Commission on the Newspaper Industry, to other Departments with a view to obtaining an early Government decision to authorise drafting of the Bill by the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel. I expect to be in a position to publish the Bill later this year.
