Vol. 538 No. 2

Written Answers. - Blackstock Report.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

148 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science the estimated cost of implementing the Blackstock report on the funding of second level schools in full. [17581/01]

The Blackstock report on the funding of second level schools represents a comprehensive review of the funding arrangements of post primary schools.

Due mainly to the traditional anomalies that have evolved in the funding mechanisms for the different school types at second level, the Blackstock report identified a framework of various policy options for the future funding arrangements of post primary schools. As the Blackstock report did not, however, provide estimates of the costs involved in these options, the information sought by the Deputy is not available.
