Written Answers. - National Development Plan.

Denis Naughten

Question:

16 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the number of projects in the national development plan for which his Department is responsible which are not to proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14534/01]

Under the national development plan, NDP, my Department is responsible for implementation of measures involving a total expenditure of almost 1.7 billion over the period 2000-06. This investment is focused, in particular, on the development of fisheries, aquaculture, forestry, marine tourism and angling. It will also support the development and upgrading of infrastructure and facilities at fishery harbours and commercial ports, as well as coast protection and marine research and development.

No decisions have been made to date not to proceed with projects selected for funding.
