Vol. 538 No. 2

Written Answers. - Marine Institute.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

35 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the progress being made by the sub-committee overseeing the relocation of the Marine Institute to Galway; the discussions there have been with staff or union representatives; the estimated cost of the relocation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17405/01]

Discussions on the relocation of the Marine Institute with a sub-committee of Departmental Council established for this purpose are ongoing. The sub-committee comprises staff, unions and management. This process of dialogue has been undertaken throughout in line with the principles of partnership and free and open exchange. Pending the outcome of this dialogue, I am not in a position to elaborate further at this time nor to provide an estimation of the likely costs. I will brief the House on developments in due course.
