Vol. 538 No. 2

Written Answers. - Abortion Services.

Liam Aylward

Question:

98 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps he can take to prevent the docking of a ship (details supplied) in Dublin and Cork ports in the near future, in view of recent media reports which would indicate that its objective is to transport women to international waters to terminate pregnancies; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17590/01]

I am aware of media reports on this subject. I have no plans to seek to prevent the docking of the ship in question in an Irish port. The legal options available will be considered should it appear likely that activities conducted in territorial waters during the visit may involve a breach of the law.
