Vol. 538 No. 3

Written Answers. - Driving Licences.

Dick Spring

Question:

261 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will consider removing all applicant fees associated with driving licence applications for pensioners. [17855/01]

Arising from a review of the overall driving licence fee arrangements by my Department, it is proposed to introduce more equitable licence fee arrangements for persons aged more than 70 years. Amending legislation is required to implement this change. The necessary proposed amendment has been provided for in the Motor Vehicles (Duties and Licences) Bill, 2001.
