Question:

312 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the need for additional teaching time as covered under circular 8/99 for a school (details supplied) in County Wexford; if he has received the school's application in this regard; if he will approve this additional teaching time; and the current position on their application. [17760/01]

Brendan Howlin

Question:

333 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received an application for additional teaching time for pupils at Scoil Realt na Mara, Kilmore, County Wexford; if so, the status of this application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17992/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 312 and 333 together.

I am aware that my Department has received an application for additional resource teaching support from the school in question. My Department has already allocated two full-time resource teaching posts and ten hours part-time resource teaching support to cater for pupils with special needs attending the school. My Department's inspectorate is currently investigating the school's request for additional resource teacher support. Once the inspectorate has reported, officials of my Department will be in contact with the school authorities.
