Vol. 538 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

330 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will clarify the situation regarding the provision of temporary accommodation for a teaching unit for autistic children adjacent to Lucan Educate Together school; if half of the temporary site has been disposed of by South Dublin County Council; if so, if this was agreed by his Department; when the temporary unit will be in place; if the completion of Lucan Educate Together school, which will incorporate the permanent teaching unit, has been put back from 2002 to 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17963/01]

My Department has approved the provision of temporary accommodation for an autistic unit at Lucan Educate Together school.

My Department has been in consultation with South Dublin County Council regarding the site and the school authorities will be kept informed of developments.

In view of the large number of school building projects being dealt with by my Department at present it is not possible to provide a timeframe as to when permanent accommodation will be provided.
