Vol. 538 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Recognition.

Seán Ryan

Question:

339 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will report on the application for recognition of Scoil Brian Boroimhe, Sord Colmcille, Contae Baile Átha Cliath; and if he will give recognition to the school. [18147/01]

The school in question received provisional recognition as a primary school with effect from September 1999 and an application for permanent recognition was received in September 2000.

The application is currently under consideration in the planning and building unit of my Department. As part of this examination, factors such as the future viability of the school, as well as current and projected enrolments, are being considered.

A decision on the school's application will be taken as soon as possible and the board of management will be notified of the outcome.
