Vol. 538 No. 3

Written Answers. - Community Employment Schemes.

Michael Creed

Question:

113 Mr. Creed asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the situation regarding persons who have availed of the back to work scheme and their subsequent entitlement to participate in community employment schemes. [18153/01]

Community employment participants and other long-term unemployed persons may be eligible for the back to work allowance scheme when they take up employment in the open labour market. An individual who has been employed and availed of the back to work allowance scheme must be unemployed for a minimum of 12 months before becoming eligible to participate on CE. Since April 2000 the participation period on the CE programme is limited to three years.
