Vol. 538 No. 3

Written Answers. - Energy Project Funding.

Denis Naughten

Question:

116 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 139 of 2 May 2001, he will state the progress to date in approving funding for the energy valley project, Arigna, County Roscommon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17808/01]

In my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 139 of 2 May last, I said that final approval of the proposal grant aid is contingent upon establishing the viability of the mining museum project. This in turn depends on production of a realistic business plan agreed between the promoters of the project and consultants which I appointed. This remains the position. My understanding is that the consultants are awaiting the availability of the promoters of the project for a meeting to discuss production of an acceptable business plan.
