Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Crawford – the urgent need for the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands to provide immediate funding for the Theatre and Resource Centre in Castleblaney, County Monaghan; (2) Deputy Gregory – the destruction of the Wiggins Teape building on East Wall Road, Dublin 3, last Saturday, 16 June 2001, and the urgent need to introduce local authority certification for the demolition of any building and other steps to protect our architectural heritage; (3) Deputy McGrath – the continuing shortage of beds in Mullingar general hospital and the need to approve phase 2b works at this hospital; (4) Deputy Enright – the unsatisfactory nature of the reply to parliamentary Question No. 585 of 12 June 2001, regarding the provision of a new primary school in Daingean, County Offaly; (5) Deputy Kenny – The matter of developments at the breast cancer unit at Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar, County Mayo; (6) Deputy Penrose – the need for the Minister for Health and Children to approve the funding required to enable phase 2b of Longford-Westmeath General Hospital to be completed and the necessity to have additional bed spaces provided; (7) Deputy Allen – the threatened evictions from nursing homes of elderly residents and the need to make additional financial allocations to health boards in order that enhanced subventions can be paid to nursing homes; and (8) Deputy Dukes – the question of inconsistencies in the levels of compensation for culled livestock paid to farmers in the Cooley Peninsula.

The matters raised by Deputies Enright, McGrath, Allen and Crawford have been selected for discussion.
