Vol. 538 No. 5

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Property.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

108 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Defence if the receipts to date arising from the disposal of Devoy Barracks, Naas, County Kildare, are in accordance with the targets set; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18458/01]

The former Devoy Barracks, County Kildare, comprises an area of approximately 22 acres. I agreed to cede seven acres free of charge to Naas Urban District Council and sell one acre to Kildare County Council for £300, 000, all for local community purposes. I have also agreed to sell the remaining 14 acres or thereabouts, which are zoned for housing, to Naas UDC for £7 million. These figures are in line with predicted valuations.

The legal formalities to give effect to these agreements are progressing and I expect them to be completed very shortly.

Question No. 109 answered with Question No. 78.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

110 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Defence if he will arrange to have signs erected indicating the location of a military camp (details supplied) in County Cork. [18481/01]

I am informed that warning lights are proposed for location near Kilworth Camp and this matter is being progressed with Cork County Council.
