Vol. 539 No. 2

Written Answers. - Extensification Premium.

John Ellis

Question:

84 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if farmers who applied for extensification in 2000 at less than 1.6 units per hectare but exceeded same, and did not exceed two units per hectare, can now be paid at the rate for two or less units per hectare. [19164/01]

Under the terms and conditions governing the extensification premium, herdowners who indicated that they wished to be considered for premium at the higher rate of payment, that is less than 1.60 livestock units per hectare, should have indicated before the end of 2000 if they wished to be considered for payment at the lower rate.

Herdowners who opted for the higher rate of payment and did not change their option before the end of 2000 cannot, under EU rules, be considered for payment at the lower rate.
