Vol. 539 No. 2

Written Answers. - Mortgage Interest Relief.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

102 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance if he will arrange to have mortgage relief granted to persons (details supplied) in County Cork. [19299/01]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes has revised the taxpayers' tax-free allowances for the year ended 5 April 2001 to include mortgage interest relief. A refund cheque for £410.05 is in the process of being issued. The taxpayers' tax credits for the current tax year were amended on 13 June 2001 to include a credit for mortgage interest relief.
