31 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Finance if he plans to abolish the 2% health levy in the next budget; if so, if it is intended to increase employees' PRSI to compensate for the abolition of the health levy; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19040/01]
The Deputy will be aware that in my 2000 budget I announced my intention to review the structure of the PRSI and levies system with a view to its simplification. I made a start to this process in my last budget and I intend to examine the scope for further rationalisation in the context of my next budget. The Deputy will have to wait until then to see my proposals.
