Question:

115 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will consider payment of a hardship grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19403/01]

Under the TB and brucellosis eradication schemes, the period of eligibility for the 2000-01 hardship grant scheme was 1 November 2000 to 30 April 2001. As the holding of the person concerned only became restricted in June 2001, he is not eligible for the payment of a hardship grant.

However, compensation in the form of reactor grants will be payable to him, when the district veterinary office has completed its checks to ensure the conditions for eligibility under that scheme have been fully observed.
