Vol. 539 No. 3

Written Answers. - Maternity Services.

Ivor Callely

Question:

128 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health and Children the total number of babies born in the Dublin maternity hospitals for the year 2000; the increase in the number and complexity of cases of pregnant women that present challenging problems; the nature of such challenging problems; the measures put in place to address same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19147/01]

Obstetrics services at the Dublin maternity hospitals are provided under an arrangement with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. I have, therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the matter raised and respond directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
