Vol. 539 No. 3

Written Answers. - Mobility Management Plan.

Question:

139 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps he has taken to implement the mobility management plans for staff commuting to their Departments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19458/01]

As the Deputy is aware a questionnaire issued recently from the Dublin Transportation Office in an effort to acquire vital up-to-date information on travel patterns in Dublin and facilitate more efficient movement of people and goods throughout Dublin. There was great interest in this subject in my Department and many people partook in this survey.

As a result of this survey a very comprehensive guide has been issued from the Dublin Transportation Office outlining how a sustainable mobility plan may be implemented. It is intended to discuss this subject at our partnership committee and it is envisaged that a working group be set up to examine what options are open to this Department to best implement this plan. The potential benefits of a mobility management plan include improved accessibility for staff and customers, enhancement of the companies environmental performance and image and a better working environment for staff. The plan will receive consideration.
