Vol. 539 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Medical Examinations.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

147 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children the degree to which school medical examinations have been undertaken in the various schools throughout County Kildare; if such examinations are carried out with sufficient frequency; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19504/01]

The provision of school health services including school medical examinations, as an integral component of child health services in County Kildare is the statutory responsibility of the Eastern Regional Health Authority. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the Eastern Regional Health Authority with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
