188 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science when a school in County Kildare will have a special needs assistant to cater for a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19423/01]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that my Department has recently sanctioned a full-time special needs assistant post to the school in question to assist the school authorities cater for the special care needs of the pupil referred to by the Deputy.

189 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science when a special needs teacher will be appointed to a school in County Kildare to provide for the needs of a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19424/01]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that my Department has recently sanctioned 2.5 hours per week resource teaching support to the school in question to cater for the special needs of the person referred to by the Deputy.

190 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science when a special needs teacher will be appointed for a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19425/01]

I understand that an application for resource teaching support has been made to my Department on behalf of the pupil in question.

My Department's inspectorate is currently investigating this application. Once the inspectorate has reported, my Department will be in contact with the school authorities in relation to the matter.
