Vol. 540 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hospital Consultant Posts.

Deirdre Clune

Question:

138 Ms Clune asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received an application from the Southern Health Board for the appoint ment of a consultant immunologist; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20239/01]

The Deputy will be aware that the appointment of staff and the identification of priorities is a matter for the Southern Health Board in the first instance. No proposal has been made to my Department for the appointment of a consultant immunologist in the board's area. If such a proposal is made I will consider the application in the context of available resources and the priority accorded to it by the board.
