Vol. 540 No. 2

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Service.

Tony Killeen

Question:

174 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of children in County Clare awaiting orthodontic treatment; the number of these who have been listed for two years or more; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20385/01]

The provision of orthodontic treatment is the responsibility of the health boards in the first instance. I was informed by the chief executive officer Mid-Western Health Board on 2 July that there are currently 716 children from County Clare on the orthodontic treatment waiting list, of which 309 children have been on the list for two years or more.
