Vol. 540 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin Traffic Management.

Richard Bruton

Question:

190 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the capital and current budget which he has devoted to developing park and ride facilities in Dublin in each year since 1996; and the agencies to which this allocation has been given. [20277/01]

My Department provides a block grant to the Dublin Transportation Office, DTO, from which DTO determines, at its own discretion, grant payments to individual local authorities within the greater Dublin area for traffic management improvements, including, where appropriate, park and ride facilities. In one year only, 1999, a budgetary supplement was provided to DTO specifically for the promotion of park and ride facilities. Such a specific supplement has not been made in the context of the larger general grant allocations made by my Department to DTO in 2000 and 2001.
