Vol. 540 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Tony Gregory

Question:

254 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 186 of 28 June 2001, arrangements will be made to meet the school's board of management in September 2001 to discuss the building of a school premises on the site which is available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20402/01]

Officials from the planning and building unit of my Department will be pleased to meet the board of management of the school in question, at a mutually convenient time, to discuss its long-term accommodation needs. It is suggested that the board should make contact with my Department's primary building section to make the necessary arrangements.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

255 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education and Science if he is in a position to approve the application for the extension to Laragh national school near Bandon, County Cork. [20412/01]

My Department has received an application from the management authorities of Laragh national school for grant aid towards the provision of an extension to the school. In view of the large number of school building projects currently being dealt with by my Department, it is not possible at this point to say what the extent of the accommodation will be or to give an indication as to the timescale for the provision of the facilities.
