Vol. 540 No. 2

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

I propose to deal separately with two notices of motion under Standing Order 31 dealing with two different topics from Deputies Naughten and McGinley. I will call the Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices. I call on Deputy Naughten to state the matter of which he has given notice to me.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the need for the Minister for Health and Children to make a full statement to the House in line with his commitment last Thursday regarding the progress he has made to date with the investigation of the administration of animal vaccine to children in the early 1970s.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be one contemplated by Standing Order 31 and, therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.

I call on Deputy McGinley to state the matter of which he has given notice to me.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the failure of the Government to recognise the important role of public service broadcasting and its lack of commitment to this service by deferring for a further two years its final decision on RTE's application for a licence fee increase.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be one contemplated by Standing Order 31 and, therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
