Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has made special arrangements to keep himself informed of the proceedings of the O'Connor Tribunal in Ontario, Canada, investigation into the deaths of several people from e.coli 0157 poisoning through the public water supply in Walkertown, Ontario, so as to ensure that all relevant lessons are learned in order to prevent a similar tragedy here. Officials of my Department and of the Environmental Protection Agency remain generally informed of relevant developments in relation to drinking water quality and in that regard will be keeping developments in relation to contamination of drinking water supplies by e.coli 0157 in Ontario under review.
