Vol. 540 No. 3

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Allen. I call on Deputy Allen to state the matter.

I wish to seek the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the need to discuss the failure of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service to disclose that blood from three persons who developed classical CJD was given to 20 patients and the need to publish the Flynn report on the IBTS.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be one contemplated by Standing Order 31 and therefore I cannot grant leave to move the motion.

I therefore seek permission to raise this as a matter on the Adjournment tonight.

If the Deputy submits this it will be considered in competition with many other requests.
