240 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the progress made on the proposal to redevelop the Abbey Theatre, Dublin 1; if her attention has been drawn to the strength of public opinion that the preferred option and redevelopment should be on the northside of the city; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Office of Public Works has furnished my Department with a report on the options and issues arising in the context of the need to improve the accommodation and facilities available to the Abbey Theatre. This report is being considered in my Department at present and will inform my formulation of proposals, which I will bring to Government in due course.
In this context, I am aware of the concerns and sensitivities that have been expressed about relocation proposals that have been discussed in the media and elsewhere in the recent past.
