Vol. 540 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

John McGuinness

Question:

251 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the reason for the delay in issuing a letter of permanency to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if she will arrange for this letter to be issued immediately. [20643/01]

The person concerned was advised in writing that a formal letter of confirmation would issue, on return by him of necessary documentation, which has been outstanding for some time. Some of this documentation has yet to be received and on receipt an appropriate letter will issue.

Question:

252 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if the post of district conservation officer recently filled in Glenveigh was properly advertised; if the workers and staff at Glenveigh were made fully aware of the vacancy; if the regulations regarding the filling of such positions were fully complied with; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20644/01]

The Deputy may wish to note that the most recent appointment to the position of district conservation officer in Glenveigh was made on 22 December, 1999. I assure the Deputy that all eligible staff were notified and invited to apply for this post.
