Vol. 540 No. 3

Written Answers. - Garda Operations.

Tony Gregory

Question:

274 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform further to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 200 and 201 of 4 April 2001 and his subsequent correspondence dated 31 May 2001, the measures the gardaí are taking to improve policing in this area where the detection rate is far below the national average. [20506/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that additional patrols have been assigned to the Cabra east area by the superintendent at Fitzgibbon Street Garda station and that special attention is also being given to the area by the detective unit at Mountjoy Garda station and by the divisional crime task force.

I am also informed that a person has been arrested and charged in relation to one burglary and that this person is currently before the Dublin District Court. I am further informed that there have been no reported burglaries in the area since 29 May 2001.
