Vol. 540 No. 3

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

296 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will expedite the proposals for a new Garda station for Ballymun in order that planning for this development can get under way; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20591/01]

I have recently approved, subject to consultation with the local community, proposals submitted by the Garda Commissioner in relation to policing arrangements in Ballymun and Santry, including the building of a new station to replace the existing stations. In granting approval, in principle, to the proposals I have indicated that I wish to see a Garda presence maintained in Santry. Once the Garda authorities have consulted with the local community, I will examine the matter again.
