Vol. 540 No. 3

Written Answers. - Refugee Accommodation.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

371 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science the consultation his Department has had with the Department of Justice, the Reception and Integration Agency, local schools or any other interested party prior to the decision of the RIA to locate a refugee holding centre in Baleskin, County Dublin. [20842/01]

Decisions on the location of centres such as that referred to by the Deputy are a matter for the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform. I understand the centre will provide accommodation for unaccompanied minors entering the country. As in all such cases, officials in my Department will make the appropriate educational provision for the young people accommodated in the centre.
