598 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he proposes to appoint an ombudsman for the disabled. [22100/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 597 and 598 together.

A range of measures are currently being considered by my Department, in conjunction with a number of other Government Departments, with a view to strengthening the support structures required by people with disabilities. However, as this process has not yet been completed, the Deputy will appreciate that I am not in a position at this point in time to provide him with specific information.
