Vol. 541 No. 2

Written Answers. - Waste Disposal.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

624 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Health and Children the views of the World Health Organisation on the use of incineration for the disposal of waste; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22136/01]

I am advised that the World Health Organisation has not put forward any fundamental objections to the use of incineration as a waste disposal method. The development of policy on waste management including the use of incineration for refuse disposal is the responsibility of the Minister for the Environment and Local Government and the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA.
