Vol. 541 No. 3

Written Answers. - Roads Funding.

Michael Ring

Question:

142 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will allocate the necessary funding to widen a bridge (details supplied) in County Mayo. [21578/01]

At the outset, I should point out that the bridge referred to by the Deputy is on a county council road and is, therefore, the responsibility of Mayo County Council. Having said that, following an inspection of the bridge by an officer from my Department and an engineer from Mayo County Council my Department has recently requested Mayo County Council to submit an estimate of the cost of widening the bridge. Once the estimate is received, the widening of the bridge will be taken into account when applications to be funded under my Department's road improvement schemes are next being considered.
