Vol. 541 No. 3

Written Answers. - Campus and Stadium Ireland.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

183 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the position regarding the proposed national stadium; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22688/01]

The position regarding the proposed national stadium is that an independent overview of the cost of the project overall, including the proposed sports campus facilities, by international consultants, High-Point Rendel, is currently nearing completion and I hope to be in a position to present their report later this month. Meanwhile the closing date for the receipt of outline bids for the stadium and other sports facilities at Sports Campus Ireland was 21 June last. I am informed by Campus and Stadium Ireland Development Limited, the company responsible for the development of the project, that submissions received by that date are currently being assessed. No decision will be made on any of these bids, however, until such time as the Government has first considered the report of the consultants.
