Question:66 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if full support and funding will be made available for the integrated development plan for Westport harbour in County Mayo. [21563/01]

I am advised that Westport Harbour Commissioners have lodged an application for grant aid under the seaports measure of the Border, midland and western regional operational Programme of the National Development Plan 2000-2006 for funding for certain initiatives under their integrated development plan.
All applications received by my Department under the seaports measure were passed to an independent evaluator for assessment and analysis against specific criteria laid down under the operational programme. The evaluator's findings in respect of Westport harbour commissioners and all other proposals received are currently being examined by officials at my Department. I expect to be in a position to make an announcement regarding the allocation of funds under the seaports measure before the end of October.
