Vol. 541 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

203 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason an application by a person (details supplied) in County Galway for a 2001 extensification premium was deemed to be late in view of the fact that the applicant had a compelling reason for such a late application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23428/01]

The person named lodged an extensification premium form EXPR.1 on 13 February 2001 indicating that he did not wish to be considered for 2001 extensification premium. He did not indicate before 22 May 2001 that he wished to change his mind and be considered for 2001 extensification premium under the census system. The final date for accepting such requests was 22 May 2001 under EU regulations. Accordingly, it is regretted that he cannot now participate in this premium for 2001.
