Vol. 542 No. 1

Written Answers. - Marine Institute Relocation.

Seán Ryan

Question:

24 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the progress being made by the sub-committee overseeing the relocation of the Marine Institute to Galway; the discussions there have been with staff or union representatives; the total estimated cost of the relocation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23345/01]

Discussions on the relocation of the Marine Institute are ongoing with a sub-committee of departmental council established for this purpose. The sub-committee comprises staff, unions and management. This process of dialogue has been undertaken throughout in line with the principles of partnership and free and open exchange. I am pleased to inform the House that staff recently voted in favour of an interim collective agreement. I will brief the House on further developments in due course including the final costs of relocation.
