Vol. 542 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Properties.

Noel Ahern

Question:

84 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance if a complex (details supplied) under the control of the Office of Public Works can be improved to make the surrounds and amenity more pleasing to neighbours and to avoid any claims for injury; if he will have the railings and wire fence repaired; if he will have the footpath surrounds reinstated if liable for such work; if he is not liable, if he will identify the person or organisation which is liable; when the fountain and small pond will be cleared and made operational again; the measures which can be taken to remove low frequency sound from a heating unit; and if he will have all grass, nettles and weeds removed from the site. [23619/01]

The building maintenance service of the Office of Public Works will be undertaking general improvement works to the grounds of the complex shortly to include the railings and wire fence. The fountain and small pond will also be examined by the building maintenance service to determine the works required. The footpath surrounds are the responsibility of Dublin Corporation.

A specialist has been commissioned by the Commissioners of Public Works to quantify the sound emission frequencies from the heating unit. His results are awaited and will be analysed with a view to resolving this matter.
