174 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the inflation rates and the position of the inflation rate here as compared to other euroland states; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25674/01]

Inflation rates in the euro area, as measured by annual changes in the harmonised index of consumer prices – HICP – are shown in the table below:

For the euro area as a whole, inflation averaged 2.5% in September. The differential between Irish inflation and that in the euro area as a whole has fallen significantly since last year.
